The National Safe Kids Campaign (now Safe Kids Worldwide) announced on May 2, 2002, a national helmet safety campaign. The campaign extended beyond bicycles to focus on all wheeled vehicles that kids ride: scooters, skateboards, inline skates and more.
Safe Kids always moves on to another major safety topic for their annual campaign, so this one is history, but the organization maintains a level of helmet issue awareness as it progresses to new areas of concern.
